Capri and Pompeii Tour from Rome OVERVIEW
After being picked up at your hotel, this 3-DAY TOUR FROM ROME: POMPEII, SORRENTO, CAPRI, NAPLES starts early heading south through the beautiful Roman countryside.
You will enjoy the view of the Castelli Romani villages on the hills and the Benedictin Abbey of Montecassino, reconstructed after the famous WW2 battle.
The journey will take approximately 3 hours.
Once in town, the coach will drive alongside the coast where you will catch sight of the bay of Naples and its blue sea.
Starting from the Mergellina port, all the way down to the old fishing village of Santa Lucia to reach the impressive Dell’Ovo Castle where you will stop to take photos of this fort dating back to Roman times and rebuilt several times across the centuries.
Jump back on the coach and head towards the heart of Naples where you will see some of the landmarks of this city.
Just to name a few: Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Opera House, the Galleria Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino.
The 3-DAY TOUR FROM ROME: POMPEII, SORRENTO, CAPRI, NAPLES continues with a few miles journey through the towns of Ercolano, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before finally arriving at Pompeii, where you will stop first for lunch at a local restaurant.
Soon after this break you will access this magical site escorted by your expert local guide.
Learn all about one of the most preserved sites in human history, following the 79AD eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, which took the city by surprise.
Walk through its food market, thermal baths, dining areas, and the homes of the city’s wealthiest citizens, then reach its impressive 5,000-seater Teatro Grande.
Once your Pompeii tour is complete, you will jump back on the coach and head to Sorrento where you will be arriving in the evening.
Here you will check in at your hotel, spend a bit of time in the comfort of your room and then join the rest of the group for dinner.
Later, you can choose whether staying in and relaxing or going out again and go for a walk on the steps to soak the breathtaking view of the bay.
Capri and Pompeii Tour from Rome Day 2:
After breakfast, you will board the speedboat for the 30 minute crossing to Marina Grande, the port of Capri.
Here you will switch to a smaller boat and head to the enchanting Blue Grotto (if weather and sea conditions permit), where light entering from an underwater cavity gives the water its vivid blue effect.
Back on the island, jump on the minibuses that will take you for a panoramic drive to reach Anacapri, located at 280 metres above sea level from where you will have a wonderful view of the Gulf of Naples.
You will be hungry by then, so what’s better than a stop at a traditional local trattoria where you can enjoy some tasty Neapolitan products.
After lunch spend the rest of the afternoon strolling through the iconic little streets of Capri. Perhaps engage in shopping for souvenirs or check out Piazza Umberto and take some nice photographs before sorting the check-in to your hotel on Capri.
Before then we strongly recommend an aperitivo in the famous Piazzetta. What better than that while you wait for dinner to be served at the hotel?
After dinner, you can choose whether staying in and relaxing or going out again and pay a little visit to either bars, ice cream parlours, or perhaps just for a walk on the sea promenade.
Capri and Pompeii Tour from Rome Day 3:
After breakfast, spend the last day in Capri at your leisure. There is plenty to do, so it’s really your choice: go for another dip in the blue sea, relax on the beach, buy souvenirs, trek your way to Anacapri or get to discover more about this amazing island!

- We would recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes. In spring and summer time the heat can be intense.
- Make sure you protect yourself from excessive exposure to sun and bring sun glasses, a hat and water with you.
- During high season there may be delays in boarding the boats and minibuses and we ask you to pay close attention to your guide to avoid getting separated from your group.
- We recommend bringing the minimum of luggage necessary for your stay. But don’t forget your swimsuit during summer months!
