Wine tasting from Florence is a must-do experience you cannot afford to miss: choose this high on demand activity and venture through the beautiful Chianti countryside to discover, learn and taste some of Italy’s best products.
Hop on board the comfortable 8-seater van and head outside Florence for a short journey to the hills famous around the World for producing the best-known and most-celebrated wines.
You will be escorted by a local English-speaking guide that will prepare you with information and interesting facts as you approach the first stop of your trip: a local winery and wine tasting school.
Are you ready to learn the characteristics of each blend and find out the winemakers’ secrets?
You will taste a total of 4 different type of wines including the famous Chianti Classico D.O.C.G., the Brunello di Montalcino and a Super Tuscan wine.
Listen from the passionate wine producers as they explain how to recognize the different flavours and get to savor other amazing products from the Tuscan cuisine.
Like 3 extra-virgine olive oil, including a delicious truffle oil and a 30-year old balsamic vinegar. All this will be accompanied by typical snacks from Tuscany.
Jump back on the van and your guide will take you to the second winery to discover and taste the products of another great local producer.
Here you will be guided through the vineyards and down the cellars where you will be able to try three more classic wines: a Vernaccia – the famous white wine from San Gimignano – a rosè wine and a Chianti colli senesi D.O.C.G.
Learn more about this art and secular tradition from the voice of the people that dedicated their life to it and get good tips on how to combine wine with specific dishes.
Also, take the opportunity of buying some bottles and other local products to bring back with you – or get them shipped directly to friends and family.
The Grape Escape Wine-Tasting Tour continues with a visit to the enchanting medieval town of San Gimignano.
Here you have free time to enjoy this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Walk through the narrow streets in the shadow of its characteristic towers.
There are 72 (!) of them, as back in medieval time, the merchant families scrambled to have their own towers constructed to their name as a sign social status.
Like ancient skyscrapers, they represented the only opportunity for the rich and powerful to show off their wealth between the tight confines of town walls.
Your tour leader will provide you with maps and recommendations on the best places to visit in town.
Hop from shop to shop and check out the local products or get a mouth-watering ice cream from the famous gelateria (ice cream parlor) in the town’s man square that have won countless international awards.
Departure time from San Gimignano is set at 3:45pm and you will be back in Florence at approximately 5pm, and the Wine tasting from Florence ends.
